Trip to South Africa, January 2012

My dad turned 80 on the 28th January and we had the privilege to celebrate his birthday with him.
On the same day Adriaan celebrated his 19th birthday.

We decided to make special birthday cakes for the special occasion and took Belgian chocolate all the way from Sydney. Here it is spread on acetate, BUT it did not work with Belgian chocolate. The next morning it was still soft and it broke into pieces. The boys went to buy baking chocolate. It tasted like soap and our search for proper baking chocolate started the day before the birthday party. We found really good chocolate from a baking shop and repeated the whole excercise.

The red chocolate-like candy travelled all the way from Sydney and it worked really well. These are anthurium flowers in progress.

Nothing to worry about. It was only the back up flower which fell apart.

A few days later the 3 boys went go-karting

Then it was time to go home...leaving the loved ones behind.

At least this little brat was happy to have us back home.

A visit to The Entrance on another rainy day

The weather forecast showed possible showers between 0mm and 1mm and we thought we could live with that. It was really warm in the morning, but there was a thunderstorm just before we left home. We still thought the weather will be fine, but it was a cold, windy, wet afternoon. We had a BBQ and returned home.
